Michael Vick to meet with New York Jets on Friday

Ex-Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick is to meet with the New York Jets this week, according to a league source.

Quarterback Michael Vick will meet with the New York Jets on Friday, ahead of a possible move to the franchise.

NFL insider Adam Schefter tipped Vick to meet with Rex Ryan's side earlier this month, having played just seven times before being released by the Philadelphia Eagles at the end of the campaign.

Rookie Geno Smith was the Jets' first-choice passer last term, but Vick has stated his intention to become a starter with whoever he signs for.

Schefter's colleague Ian Rapoport said via his Twitter account: "Michael Vick's visit to #Jets, which source said is Friday as @njdotcom reported, is his only scheduled visit so far. He's taking his time."

Current backup Mark Sanchez is expected to be cut by the Jets, before his roster bonus is due next week.
