Rick Spielman coy on Michael Vick move

Minnesota Vikings general manager Rick Spielman hints at the possibility of signing quarterback Michael Vick, but admits there would be a number of factors to consider.

Minnesota Vikings general manager Rick Spielman has hinted at the possibility of bringing veteran quarterback Michael Vick to the team during the off-season.

The Vikings are in need of a quarterback having lost Matt Cassel and Josh Freeman to free agency, while Vick could also be on the lookout for a new team having lost his starting spot at the Philadelphia Eagles to Nick Foles last season.

Any move for the 34-year-old would be a controversial one due to his chequered past, and Spielman admitted that a number of factors would need to be taken into consideration if they were to think about signing him.

"When Brett Favre was here it became a real media attention grabber, but we ended up getting to the NFC Championship Game," Spielman told ESPN.

"A lot of it has to do with how the coaches feel about it. Do you want the distractions? Is your team mature enough to handle the distractions? It's always going to come down to - can you handle it and is he going to help you win ballgames?"

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has made no secret of his desire to link up with Vick, claiming that the quarterback would immediately turn the team into playoff contenders.
