LeSean McCoy: 'I wanted us to pick Johnny Manziel'

Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy admits that he wanted his side to take Johnny Manziel in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy has admitted that he wanted his side to select quarterback Johnny Manziel in the 2014 Draft.

The Eagles passed on Manziel as they dropped to 26th in the selection process in a trade with the Cleveland Browns who picked the 21-year-old with the 22nd overall selection, much to the disappointment of McCoy.

"I'm a Johnny guy, I really am, since college," McCoy said on ESPN. "He's played in the best conference [SEC], he's played well, he has tons of swag.

"I mean he's an athlete. He's a quarterback and I thought he'd be a good matchup for us."

Chip Kelly's side selected linebacker Marcus Smith out of the Louisville Cardinals with their first-round pick.
