Jeffrey Lurie: 'Finding franchise quarterback is Philadelphia Eagles' top priority'

Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie says that finding a franchise quarterback is the team's top priority.

Jeffrey Lurie has described finding a franchise quarterback as a top priority for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Michael Vick has been the NFC East side's starter for the last four season, but a string of injuries have seen backup Nick Foles start eight games in the last two years.

The team's owner told Comcast SportsNet Philly: "We need someone to step up, whether it's an existing young quarterback or somebody we go out and acquire.

"We know, this is no secret, quarterback is the [ultimate] position and the most important difference-maker.

"Time will tell. I think it's really wide open for those that are on the team and it's wide open for what our strategy might be if we don't have it. But it's a number one priority. We've got to solidify that position in a really good way."

The Eagles face the Oakland Raiders this Sunday.
