Malcolm Jenkins: 'Byron Maxwell has brought confidence to Philadelphia Eagles'

Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins believes that Byron Maxwell has brought confidence to his side's secondary following his move from the Seattle Seahawks.

Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins has claimed that the addition of Byron Maxwell has bolstered the confidence of the club's secondary.

The NFC East outfit signed the 27-year-old to a lucrative contract following his success in his four years with the Seattle Seahawks, where he was part of the 'Legion of Boom'.

Jenkins feels that Maxwell has brought a lot of the attitude that the Seahawks' secondary possesses to the Eagles following their struggles in the 2014 season.

He told the club's official website: "I think we're all working on our swagger, our confidence, whatever you want to call it. Byron adds to that. He's an extremely hard worker. He takes it seriously, but he also understands the right mentality to have. It's a long season.

"We have a lot of work to do. Byron doesn't back down from any of the challenges here, and we have some. Last year was tough. It's over. We needed to do things differently and here we are.

"Byron knows that things aren't going to be handed to him. He's going to have to lead and he's going to have to do it by working harder than anyone else. He's got the spotlight on him. He knows how to handle it."

The Eagles were ranked 31st in passing defense in the 2014 campaign.
