Taiwan Jones "excited" by Oakland Raiders extension

Oakland Raiders special teams standout Taiwan Jones is "excited" about having signed a three-year extension to his contract with the team.

Oakland Raiders special teams standout Taiwan Jones has spoken of his excitement at having signed a new contract with the club.

Jones agreed a three-year extension to his deal yesterday, keeping himself at the Raiders until at least 2017 while also making himself one of the highest-paid special teamers in the NFL.

The 25-year-old was initially drafted as a running back in the fourth round of the 2011 Draft before moving to special teams, and he hopes to play a part in a turnaround in fortunes for the Raiders.

"I was excited when they came to me about the extension. It is definitely a blessing for a local kid to be part of the Raiders turnaround," Jones told the team's official website.

"I've been an underdog all my life, so I think it's very fitting for me to remain here. I'm definitely excited about it."

The Raiders finished last season bottom of the AFC West with a 4-12 record.
