Carolina Panthers overcome New York Jets

The New York Jets fall to a 20-30 defeat to the Carolina Panthers in the NFL.

The Carolina Panthers have beaten the New York Jets in their NFL match.

The Panthers took an early three-point lead after Graham Gano completed a 59-yard field goal to set Carolina on their way, before Nick Folk kicked his own 54-yard goal to bring the score to 3-3.

The second quarter produced exactly the same results as the first. Gano kicked the Panthers back in front from 22 yards out, while Folk again responded with a field goal of his own from 33 yards to level proceedings at 6-6.

The Panthers were then put back in front with the contest's first touchdown, as Deangelo Williams retrieved an impressive 72-yard pass from Cam Newton to help take his side's score to 13.

Gano returned nearing the end of the quarter to kick a further three points from 40 yards out, leaving the score at 16-6 going into half time.

Sheldon Richardson brought the Jets back into it with a touchdown in the third quarter, but in the fourth Mike Tolbert was successful with a one-yard run and Captain Munnerlyn extended the lead further with a touchdown from a 41-yard interception return.

The Jets refused to give up, though, and Jeff Cumberland received an eight-yard pass from Geno Smith to bring them to within 10 points of the Panthers.

That was the way it stayed as the Panthers recovered from the loss to the New Orleans Saints.
