Rex Ryan: 'New York Jets still don't know starting quarterback'

Rex Ryan admits that the New York Jets still do not know whether Mark Sanchez or Geno Smith will star at QB in 2013.

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan has admitted that his side are still uncertain as to who will be the starting quarterback in 2013.

Geno Smith has been tipped with a starting place in the coming season to replace Mark Sanchez, who has reportedly been disappointing in practice.

However, Ryan has now said that there is no rush to name who will start and will not make a final decision until he is completely sure which player is the right choice.

"I don't believe we're close to [a decision] right now," ESPN quotes Ryan as saying. "Obviously, we don't have to make that move right now. Until we feel 100% comfortable with that decision, we'll leave it to competition.

"It's way too early. Some days this guy looks good, some days that guy looks good."

Smith was a second-round pick in the 2013 Draft.
