Report: Rex Ryan to stay at New York Jets

Rex Ryan will reportedly stay on as head coach of the New York Jets despite suggestions that he would be fired at the end of the season.

The New York Jets are poised to confirm that head coach Rex Ryan will continue in his role next season, according to a report.

Ryan reportedly told his players that he will leave the club at the end of the season after missing the playoffs for the third-straight season.

However, an upturn in form along with promising play from the younger players in the team has led to a change of heart from general manager John Idzik and owner Woody Johnson, reports the New York Daily News.

The Jets can finish 8-8 in their season with a win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
