John Idzik hails Rex Ryan

New York Jets general manager John Idzik reveals that he is pleased with the job head coach Rex Ryan is doing with the team.

New York Jets general manager John Idzik has praised head coach Rex Ryan for the start that he has made to the season.

The Jets have exceeded expectations by climbing to second in the AFC East having won five of their opening nine games, including surprise victories over the likes of the New Orleans Saints and the New England Patriots.

Idzik inherited Ryan as head coach when he joined the franchise in January, and he insists that he has been impressed with what he has seen from the 50-year-old so far.

"I think he's done very well. It's been great working with Rex and his staff. Rex has pulled it all together. He's our leader," Idzik told reporters.

However, despite his praise, Idzik refused to discuss the future of Ryan, whose contract is due to run out next year.

"We're living in the moment," Idzik added when pressed on the issue.

The Jets, who have their bye this week, are currently two wins behind the Patriots in the NFC East and will face divisional rivals, the Buffalo Bills, in their next match on November 17.
