Osi Umenyiora turns down New York Jets, confirms retirement

Two-time Super Bowl winner Osi Umenyiora reportedly turns down the New York Jets and retires from the NFL

Former New York Giants outside linebacker Osi Umenyiora has announced his retirement from the NFL.

Th 33-year-old spent nine seasons with the Giants between 2003 and 2012 and won two Super Bowls in 2008 and 2012, before moving to the Atalanta Falcons for two years.

NFL Media reports that the New York Jets offered Umenyiora a contract to continue his career, but he told reporters that he wanted to return to the Giants.

He told ESPN: "Either I was going to play for the Giants or I wasn't going to play football at all."

Umenyiora made 85 career sacks.
