New York Giants kick their way to win in Philadelphia

The New York Giants kick their way to victory over NFC East rivals the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday evening at Lincoln Financial Field.

The New York Giants have picked up their second win in a row, beating divisional opponents the Philadelphia Eagles 15-7.

Tom Coughlin's side have the right boot of kicker Josh Brown largely to thank for the victory, following five successful field goal attempts.

The Eagles lost quarterback Michael Vick to a hamstring injury which has been troubling him for a number of weeks, with third-string rookie Matt Barkley stepping in. Vick's usual understudy Nick Foles was also missing through injury, allowing Barkley to make his second appearance of the season.

Brown kicked efforts of 40 and 44 yards in the opening quarter, before attempts of 33 and 46 yards strengthened the visitors advantage to 12-0 at half-time.

With both sides struggling to put together strong drives with the ball, the Giants added another field goal to their score in the third quarter.

Finally in the final quarter, the Eagles scored the first touchdown of the game in unexpected fashion.

On a 4th and 14 at the Giants 37, Steve Weatherford came on and punted, with a muffed catch recovered by Najee Goode at the Eagles two yard line. Goode then preceded to run the length of the field to bring his side back to within touching distance of their rivals with 4:19 remaining.

Barkley, however, couldn't convert some late chances and was intercepted with 22 seconds left by Will Hill, to allow Giants quarterback Eli Manning to take a knee.

The Giants move to 2-6, whilst the Eagles lost for the second week in a row to slump to 3-5.
