Jared Lorenzen: 'I'm enjoying media attention'

Former New York Giants quarterback Jared Lorenzen admits that he finds his new-found fame funny after a video of his debut for his new team went viral.

Former New York Giants quarterback Jared Lorenzen has said that he is enjoying being back in the spotlight after footage of his debut with the Northern Kentucky River Monsters went viral.

The 33-year-old, who used to be Eli Manning's backup, was seen completing a string of passes as well as scrambling during his first game with the Continental Indoor Football League side, despite weighing 320lb.

Lorenzen, who has not played in the NFL since being waived by the Indianapolis Colts in 2008, told the Cincinnati Enquirer: "Social media is a scary, scary, crazy thing.

"I honestly think it's because I was a big guy wearing a really tight, white jersey. If I am wearing blue or our opposite green, it ain't as funny. But you see the big guy running around avoiding people and it's funny. And I get it.

"It's great to be the flash in the pan and all that, but if you don't have fun with this, what the hell are you doing in life? Live this up, get your 15 minutes of it and bow away from it. I enjoy it, I love it, I think it's funny."

USA Today and ESPN are among a number of media outlets to have requested accreditation to cover the River Monsters' first home game of the season later today.
