The New York Giants have placed offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz on injured reserve designated to return and signed guard Adam Snyder to replace him on their roster.
Schwartz sustained a toe injury in the club's pre-season win over the New York Jets, and as a result will now be ruled out until at least week nine of the season when he can be activated to the squad.
The Giants have signed Snyder who was released by the San Francisco 49ers last week as part of their roster cutdown, and is expected to slot into their lineup for the season opener.
Tom Coughlin's side face the Detroit Lions in their first game on Monday.
