New Orleans Saints snatch dramatic win

Garrett Hartley scores a field goal in the final play of a weather-delayed clash as the New Orleans Saints earns a 16-14 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Garrett Hartley's last-ditch field goal has helped the New Orleans Saints shade a weather-delayed NFL clash with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by a narrow 16-14 margin.

A bright start to the match was halted by lightning and heavy rain during the first quarter, which caused the match to be delayed by more than an hour.

When play eventually resumed, both sides managed a quick touchdown, with Kevin Ogletree going over for the Bucs before Drew Brees found Jimmy Graham with a 56-yard pass at the other end.

Both teams then struggled to gain control in tight second quarter, before Hartley's 41-yard field goal early in the third quarter inched New Orleans ahead by six points.

Tampa Bay linebacker Mason Foster thought that he had done enough to snatch a win for the hosts when he scored with an 85-yard interception in the fourth quarter, but there was still time for the Saints to respond.

Brees led New Orleans into field-goal range with an efficient drive under pressure in the closing stages, with Hartley making it count in the final play of the night, scoring from 27 yards to hand the Saints victory.
