New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has revealed that wide receiver Julian Edelman has been removed from the physically unable to perform list.
The 27-year-old has missed all of the Patriots' off-season activities with a foot injury and was added to the list before the start of training camp last week.
However, Edelman has now been deemed fit enough to join the battle for places on his side's roster for their upcoming campaign.
Belichick told reporters: "He wasn't able to do much and he hasn't done anything in camp, other than work individually with the trainers.
"He watches and goes to the meetings but he can't participate in anything. I certainly don't think it puts him ahead.
"He's got some ground to make up. We'll see how it goes. He's been cleared to come off PUP so we'll see."
Edelman played nine games for the Patriots last season, making 21 receptions and scoring three touchdowns in the process.
