Minnesota Vikings GM Rick Spielman: 'We will not trade away Adrian Peterson'

Minnesota Vikings general manager Rick Spielman is adamant that the club will not trade away running back Adrian Peterson despite reports linking him with a move.

Minnesota Vikings general manager Rick Spielman has declared that the club will not be trading away running back Adrian Peterson.

The 30-year-old was suspended by the league for the majority of the 2014 campaign after entering a no contest plea to a charge of causing reckless or negligent injury to his four-year-old son.

However, Peterson was reinstated by the NFL last week and has been linked with moves to the Arizona Cardinals and the Dallas Cowboys, but Spielman has dismissed the speculation, insisting the 2012 MVP will remain with the NFC North side.

Spielman told reporters: "We can just end the Adrian Peterson stuff. Our position has not changed since all of the statements we made down at the owners' meetings.

"Adrian Peterson is under contract, his suspension was lifted, we're looking forward to having Adrian Peterson as a Minnesota Viking in 2015. That's the end of the story. That's it.

"I think coach [Mike] Zimmer made it clear that we have no interest in trading Adrian Peterson."

Peterson has rushed for 10,190 yards and 86 touchdowns in his eight-year NFL career.
