The NFL Players Association has insisted that they will carry out a "fair investigation" into allegations of player harassment at the Miami Dolphins.

Dolphins guard Richie Incognito was suspended indefinitely by the team earlier this week after claims that he had threatened teammate Jonathan Martin and his family, allegedly using profane language and racial slurs towards the offensive tackle.

The Dolphins and the NFL are also conducting investigations into the incident, and the NFLPA have called for both sides of the story to be given a fair hearing.

"We expect that the NFL and its clubs create a safe and professional workplace for all players and that owners, executives, coaches and players should set the best standards and examples," read a statement from the union.

"As the representative organization of all players, the NFLPA will insist on a fair investigation for all involved. We will continue to remain in contact with the impacted players, their representatives and player leadership."

Meanwhile, Incognito has admitted that he is trying to "weather the storm", claiming that the furore will pass sooner or later.
