Kansas City Chiefs remain unbeaten with narrow win over Dallas Cowboys

The Kansas City Chiefs move to 2-0 in their season with a narrow victory over the Dallas Cowboys at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Kansas City Chiefs advanced to 2-0 in their NFL season with a narrow victory over the Dallas Cowboys at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Chiefs received the ball first and quarterback Alex Smith got his side moving downfield with a series of good short throws and runs when the play broke down.

He moved his side to the redzone and they opened the scoring when he found running Jamaal Charles for a two-yard touchdown.

Dan Bailey got the Cowboys on a the board with a 51-yard field goal and in their next series they took the lead when quarterback Tony Romo hit receiver Dez Bryant on a slant route for a two-yard score, while Bailey kicked the extra point.

Both defenses stiffened up in the second quarter as neither team could score any points and just before the break Chiefs kicker Ryan Succop saw his 58-yard field goal blocked by the Dallas special teams, as the half ended 10-7.

After the break, the Cowboys extended their lead through a 30-yard field goal from Bailey.

However, the Chiefs responded and took the lead when Smith drove his offense down the field and got a touchdown when he hit Dwayne Bowe in the endzone for a 12-yard strike.

Succop added a field goal from 40 yards to extend the Chiefs lead to four points but Bailey answered back with a kick of his own to make the score 17-16 to the home side.

The Chiefs defense held firm late on against Romo to secure the win.
