Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been named the NFL's Most Valuable Player for the second time in his career.
The 27-year-old garnered 48 of the 50 first-placed votes in a landslide victory after leading the Chiefs to their fifth Super Bowl in the 2022 season, beating Jalen Hurts and Josh Allen to the award.
Mahomes earned another place in the history books with 5,614 total yards during the campaign, eclipsing the previous record of 5,562 held by Drew Bees.
The quarterback also threw 41 touchdown passes - a league high - while posting 5,250 passing yards, the highest total of his career to date.
With Mahomes in the ranks, the Chiefs went 14-3 in the regular season on their way to the AFC title, and they will take on the Philadelphia Eagles at Super Bowl LVII on Sunday.
Mahomes - who is nursing an ankle injury sustained in the Chiefs' Divisional Round victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars - did not attend the ceremony at Symphony Hall, Arizona, but he expressed his gratitude in a video message.

"To the Chiefs organization, Clark Hunt, Brett Veach, Andy Reid, the staff and most of all, my teammates, I would never be standing here today without y'all," Mahomes said.
"Every day giving everything that we have together to go for the ultimate goal, the Super Bowl. Let's continue to go for that dream this weekend."
Mahomes - who was also named the NFL's MVP in 2018 - is still receiving treatment on the ankle injury that he sustained last month, but the issue is not expected to impact his participation in the Super Bowl.
The 27-year-old is the 10th player to receive multiple MVP awards, and he could now become the first player since Kurt Warner in 1999 to win both the MVP and Super Bowl MVP awards.
Elsewhere, Brian Daboll was named the Coach of the Year after guiding the New York Giants to the playoffs in his first season in charge, beating the Minnesota Vikings in the Wild Card round before a comprehensive Divisional Round loss to the Eagles.
The Vikings' wide receiver Justin Jefferson was named Offensive Player of the Year, having tallied 1,809 receiving yards, while San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa was crowned the Defensive Player of the Year after posting a league-high 18.5 sacks in the 2022 season.
The New York Jets scooped both of the Rookie awards, with cornerback Sauce Gardner and wide receiver Garrett Wilson winning the Defensive and Offensive prizes respectively, and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith was crowned the Comeback Player of the Year.
