Jacksonville Jaguars' Jerry Sullivan: 'We put too much on Marqise Lee'

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receivers coach Jerry Sullivan admits that the club expected too much too soon from Marqise Lee in his rookie season in the NFL.

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receivers coach Jerry Sullivan has conceded that the club put too much on the plate of rookie Marqise Lee in the 2014 season.

The AFC South side selected Lee in the second round of the 2014 Draft, expecting the 23-year-old to have an immediate impact with Gus Bradley's men.

However, Lee struggled to have the same effect as the other wide receivers in his Draft class such as Odell Beckham Jr and Mike Evans, which Sullivan has admitted was the fault of the Jaguars.

"Well, some of it was our fault," Sullivan told reporters. "We gave him too much too soon.

"I think year one to year two will be a good jump, and like I said, he's much more comfortable in his own shoes at this time than he was a year ago.

"He'll come along. It's a day-by-day proposition, and that's how I want him to see it, and I don't want him to get frustrated if he takes a step backward. He's going to be fine."

Lee recorded 37 receptions for 422 yards and one touchdown in the 2014 season.
