Blaine Gabbert has said that he expects to be in pain if he plays the opening game of the regular season.
The Jacksonville Jaguars starting quarterback sustained a hairline fracture in his hand earlier this month, and will find out later this week whether he will be able to play in the team's week one fixture against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The 23-year-old told the Florida Times-Union: "We'll know more tomorrow and in the next couple days. It's coming up quick.
"Of course it's going to be painful, but at the same time, you're always playing with things, nicks, bumps, dings and bruises. I'll have to manage it.
"I'm being very careful with what we're doing and how we're doing it and what I'm wearing on it. I just can't have any setbacks from here on out."
The Jaguars play the Atlanta Falcons tomorrow.
