Chuck Pagano wants to remain with Indianapolis Colts for "many years"

Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano insists that he wants to remain with the club for "many years" amid speculation over his future.

Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano has outlined his ambition to be at the club for "many years".

The 54-year-old joined the AFC South side in 2012, but missed a large percentage of his first campaign in charge as he received treatment for leukemia.

On his return, the Colts were knocked out of the playoffs by the Baltimore Ravens, while further disappointments occurred in the 2013 and 2014 seasons as their pursuit of the Super Bowl was ended by the New England Patriots.

Reports suggested that the Colts were ready to wait until after the 2015 season to offer Pagano a contract extension, despite his current deal ending at the end of the campaign.

"Be where your feet are," Pagano wrote in a statement. "What do I mean? Cancer taught me to be thankful for today. All I'm concentrating on is today. Then tomorrow.

"My focus right now is on the draft, bringing in players that can help us continue to grow, get better, and continue to 'Build the Monster.' I look forward to coaching the Colts this season and for many years to come."

Pagano has posted a 36-18 record in his three seasons with the Colts, including the post-season.
