Case Keenum ruled out with thumb injury

The Houston Texans are to be without Case Keenum after the quarterback injured his thumb in practice.

Houston Texans quarterback Case Keenum will miss the team's clash with the Denver Broncos with an injured thumb.

Keenum suffered the injury in practice this week, so previous starter Matt Schaub will retake his place in the team's lineup and TJ Yates will back him up.

In a game earlier this season against the Saint Louis Rams, Schaub was upset by jeers coming from his home crowd.

Texans coach Wade Phillips told reporters: "Our team is 100% behind Matt and I know our real fans are going to be cheering for our team and also for him."

In eight years with the Texans, Schaub has started 85 matches, with Sunday's game likely to be his last for the franchise with his contract up at the end of the season.
