Green Bay Packers sign quarterback Matt Flynn

The Green Bay Packers confirm that they have signed free agent quarterback Matt Flynn and placed Seneca Wallace on season-ending injured reserve.

The Green Bay Packers have signed free agent quarterback Matt Flynn and placed Seneca Wallace on injured reserve.

Flynn has been added to the roster after being released by the Buffalo Bills two weeks ago to cover for the injured Aaron Rodgers, who sustained a fractured collarbone in his side's defeat to the Chicago Bears.

The 28-year-old had a previous spell with the Packers as Rodgers's backup but left the club after the 2011 season. He failed to win the starting job at the Seattle Seahawks and the Oakland Raiders, as well as at the Bills.

Mike McCarthy made the move to sign Flynn once again after it was revealed that Rodgers was at least two weeks away from a return, while his replacement Wallace also sustained a season-ending groin injury and had to be placed on IR.

The Packers are 5-4 in their season following their defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
