John Kuhn re-signs with Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers re-sign fullback John Kuhn on a one-year contract.

The Green Bay Packers have re-signed fullback John Kuhn on a one-year contract.

Kuhn had been without a team since the beginning of free agency last month, but he has now agreed to rejoin the Packers in a deal worth just over $1m (£600,000).

The 32-year-old has been with the team for the last seven seasons after they claimed him off waivers from the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2007.

He featured in 15 games last season, rushing 10 times for 38 yards and one touchdown while also catching 13 passes for 81 yards.

It was in defense that he impressed most, however, making a crucial play to protect quarterback Aaron Rodgers from being sacked in the winner-takes-all regular season finale against the Chicago Bears.

Kuhn blocked Bears defensive end Julius Peppers at the last moment, allowing Rodgers to throw a match-winning touchdown pass to Randall Cobb on fourth down.

The two-time Super Bowl winner becomes the sixth Packers free agent to re-sign with the team this off-season, following on from Sam Shields, BJ Raji, Mike Neal, Andrew Quarless and James Starks.
