Detroit Lions wide receiver Golden Tate has admitted that he was surprised by the lack of interest in his services during free agency in the off-season.
The 26-year-old was allowed to hit the free-agent market by the Seattle Seahawks despite playing an integral part in their Super Bowl triumph.
Tate signed with the Lions on a five-year deal after receiving just one suitable offer during the process.
He told the Detroit Free Press: "I'm not going to lie, I thought I'd be a hot commodity. It got closer and I thought I was going to have seven or eight teams wanting me.
"Wasn't the case at all, which is OK. I guess all you need is one team to really love you."
Tate has recorded 66 receptions for 909 yards and five touchdowns this season.
