Detroit Lions quarterback Matt Stafford has admitted that he was taken by surprise by the atmosphere inside Wembley Stadium in his side's clash against the Atlanta Falcons.
Stafford led his side to a remarkable comeback win in their International Series game as they rallied from a 21-point deficit to claim a 22-21 victory after Matt Prater kicked a game-winning field goal as time expired.
He told reporters: "They were great. I think, obviously, they kind of told who to cheer for. You have a home team and an away team.
"But I felt we were at an away stadium. I felt like Atlanta had a home crowd, which was impressive. You didn't know what to expect coming in.
"But they were loud, and especially when we were way backed up or going into score. That's very similar to an NFL stadium in the States, so I was impressed with that. Obviously, they had great energy in there. The stadium is fantastic. Just happy to get a win."
The Lions are 6-2 in their season following their win over the Falcons.
