Detroit Lions' Dominic Raiola handed one-game suspension

Detroit Lions center Dominic Raiola is banned for one game by the NFL and will miss his side's match against the Green Bay Packers following his stomp on Ego Ferguson.

Detroit Lions offensive lineman Dominic Raiola has been suspended by the NFL for his side's NFC North title decider against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

The 35-year-old stamped on the leg of Chicago Bears defensive tackle Ego Ferguson during his side's win over Marc Trestman's men at Soldier Field.

Raiola claimed that the incident was unintentional, but the league office deemed his actions serious enough to hand out the ban, which was held up on appeal and will rule him out of the decisive match against the Packers.

The center was fined earlier in the season for unnecessary roughness when he hit New England Patriots defensive end Zach Moore in the back of the head.
