Martin Mayhew: 'Detroit Lions eyeing move for veteran quarterback'

Detroit Lions general manager Martin Mayhew reveals that the club are weighing up a move to sign a veteran quarterback during free agency.

Detroit Lions general manager Martin Mayhew has revealed that the club are considering adding a veteran quarterback to their roster during free agency.

Starter Matt Stafford endured a difficult end to the 2013 campaign as his erratic form was one of the reasons his side failed to reach the post-season, and now the club are looking at options to provide the 26-year-old with competition.

"We'll get into the free agency market and see what it looks like and see if there's a veteran out there that's right for us, that we feel comfortable with," Mayhew told MLive.com.

Stafford threw for 4,650 yards along with 29 touchdowns to 19 interceptions last season.
