Jim Caldwell compares Teddy Bridgewater to Russell Wilson

Detroit Lions coach Jim Caldwell believes that certain characteristics of rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater are similar to those of Russell Wilson.

Detroit Lions coach Jim Caldwell has said that Minnesota Vikings rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater reminds him of Russell Wilson.

Wilson led the Seattle Seahawks to a Super Bowl triumph last season, while Bridgewater has played in just seven full quarters of NFL football.

However, Caldwell has seen enough to suggest that the Vikings signal caller will be a success and he can learn a lot from Wilson.

"This guy is a good player. I looked at him coming out closely, and this guy can think on his feet. He can deliver the ball, he's very good in terms of analysing defenses [and] he does it quickly," Caldwell said, according to the Detroit News.

"The other thing is that he gets outside of the pocket. He's like Russell Wilson."

Bridgewater has already shown an ability to scramble and make plays, which has been a trademark of Wilson's game in recent years.
