Peyton Manning has said that he felt "humbled" to be named the NFL's most valuable player for the fifth time in his career.
The Denver Broncos quarterback broke the league records for most passing yards in a single season and most touchdown passes.
The 37-year-old, who was unable to attend the NFL honours ceremony because of the Super Bowl, said in a video message: "I am humbled by this recognition and grateful to my family, [Broncos owner] Pat Bowlen, John Elway, John Fox and the entire Denver Broncos organisation, and of course, my coaches and my teammates."
Manning, who was also named offensive player of the year, will be looking for his second Super Bowl success when the Broncos face the Seattle Seahawks later today.
