Champ Bailey: 'Denver Broncos can manage without Von Miller'

Denver Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey says that the team could manage if linebacker Von Miller does not successfully appeal against suspension.

Champ Bailey has said that the Denver Broncos are not worried by the prospect of starting the 2013 NFL season without Von Miller.

The linebacker missed practice with the team yesterday as he continues his appeal against a four-game suspension for violating a league policy.

The cornerback told the team's website: "I guess the only difference is Von's pass-rush abilities versus anybody's. He's always superior to pretty much anybody in the league. But there is the run stopping and Nate [Irving]'s pretty good at that. Whoever we plug in there, they'll be ready to go.

"[Shaun Phillips is] a proven player in this league. He's hungry. This guy's as good a pro as I've been around. He's definitely dialled in and ready to go. So I'm not worried about it.

"Well, when you lose a guy of that calibre, you're going to notice a difference. He's just that effective on our defense."

Miller made 18.5 sacks, six forced fumbled and an interception for the Broncos last season.
