Jerry Jones: 'Lack of Super Bowl is a mess-up'

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones admits that his side have missed a chance to reach the Super Bowl with a talented group of players.

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones has described his side's failure to reach a Super Bowl since the 1995 season as a "mess-up".

The Cowboys have boasted an impressive roster in recent years, with quarterback Tony Romo being joined by the likes of Terrell Owens, Flozell Adams, Jason Witten, Roy Williams, Marion Barber, DeMarcus Ware and Miles Austin, all of whom have reached the Pro Bowl.

However, since 1997 the team has a 136-136 record, and Jones admitted that they had missed a glorious chance to succeed with a talented group of players.

"Now for us not to having got it done during those years is a mess up. You got to get it when you're high like that," Jones told KRLD-FM Dallas/Fort Worth.

"When you're high up on it. You can't miss your bus when you got your quarterback and you got good talent around him and if you miss that bus in the NFL."

Jones also expressed his belief that keeping Romo healthy would be the key to his side ending their Super Bowl drought.
