Michael Irvin, Cris Carter selected as 2015 Pro Bowl captains

The NFL chooses Hall of Fame duo Michael Irvin and Cris Carter to lead next season's two Pro Bowl teams.

Two NFL Hall of Fame wide receivers have been named as the captains of the Pro Bowl teams of 2015.

Michael Irvin and Cris Carter were named by the league on Wednesday, as the NFL continues with a 'draft format' contest, as opposed to the previously used 'conferenced' Pro Bowls.

This means that Irvin and Carter will select their choices in the days leading up to the match, which will take place prior to Super Bowl XLIX in Arizona.

Ex-Dallas Cowboys star Irvin said: "Some of my favorite NFL memories were from my Pro Bowl trips. I can't wait to see which players get the Pro Bowl nod this season.

"I'm already thinking about how to build my team."

Carter, meanwhile, spent the majority of his career with the Minnesota Vikings, before retiring in 2002. He said: "Being voted to the Pro Bowl was always a tremendous honor for me.

"Last year, players really seemed to be excited about the new rules and the Pro Bowl Draft format. I'm excited to be a part of it this year."

Last season, a competitive clash saw Team Jerry Rice defeat Team Deion Sanders 22-21.
