Cris Carter: 'Larry Allen deserves Hall of Fame spot'

Cris Carter reveals that he had to convince Larry Allen that he belonged in the Pro Football Hall of Fame during their induction on Saturday.

Cris Carter has revealed that he had to reassure fellow Hall of Famer Larry Allen that he deserved to be inducted into the prestigious group.

The duo were enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday night alongside the likes of Dave Robinson, Warren Sapp, Curley Culp, Jonathan Ogden and Bill Parcells.

However Allen, who made his name as one of the strongest men in NFL history as a guard at Dallas Cowboys, was unsure whether he deserved to be alongside such legends of the game.

"We were standing out there, [and] Larry Allen kept saying, 'I'm not supposed to be here. I don't know why I'm here,'" Carter told reporters.

"And I looked at him, and I told him, 'I want you to watch this video, and like the police say, we got you. We got video evidence. When they finish that tape of you, I want you to look back at me and tell me you don't belong in the Hall of Fame.'

"And to see him be able to get over that hump and get going, that was really the moment."

Allen won one Super Bowl and played in 11 consecutive Pro Bowls, and was also named in the NFL Team of the Decade for both the 1990s and 2000s.
