Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon will miss the entire 2015 season through suspension.
Gordon tested positive for alcohol after he drank moderate levels on a private plane in January, only a couple of months after he returned from a previous ban.
Gordon will not be paid for the duration of his suspension, which is the third of his career.
The 23-year-old was handed a two-game ban in 2013 for a failed drug test, while he missed the first 10 games of 2014 after he tested positive for marijuana.
Browns general manager Ray Farmer said in a statement: "We are disappointed to once again be at this point with Josh. Throughout his career we have tried to assist him in getting support like we would with any member of our organisation. Unfortunately our efforts have not resonated with him."
Gordon has scored 14 touchdowns in 35 games.
