The Cleveland Browns have laughed off reports that they changed their 22nd overall Draft pick from Teddy Bridgewater to Johnny Manziel just 10 seconds before informing NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
ESPN reported on Monday that the Browns, who traded up to get the 22nd selection, had initially decided to choose Bridgewater only to change their minds at the last moment and draft Manziel instead.
However, head coach Mike Pettine refuted the report and insisted that they were considering choosing Manziel as high as fourth overall before trading that pick to the Buffalo Bills.
"I heard that story too, and it's beyond laughable," Pettine told reporters.
The Browns also chose cornerback Justin Gilbert in the first round, taking the former Oklahoma State star eighth overall.
