Live Commentary: Cleveland Browns 20-41 Cincinnati Bengals - as it happened

Good evening! It's around half an hour until play gets underway at the Paul Brown Stadium, where the Cincinnati Bengals will battle with the Cleveland Browns for the Ohio bragging rights. Let's start with a look at the inactive players from both teams.

BROWNS INACTIVES! Gray, Magee, Lewis, Wallace, Gilkey, Fragel, Kitchen

The most notable absentee for the hosts is linebacker Rey Maualuga, who is still recovering from the knee sprain that he sustained last month. There are not real surprises from the Browns, with quarterback Jason Campbell and running back Willis McGahee both overcoming minor knocks to start this tie.

Neither of these two sides have been in great form in recent weeks, but they are currently the top two sides in their Division. Having been unbeaten in October, the Bengals are still looking for their first win this month, while the Browns ended a three-game slump last weekend. When the teams met in Cleveland in the fourth week of the season, it was a comfortable win for the home side.

So far this season, the Bengals have had the stronger offense of the two teams, and just have the edge defensively. Cincinnati have averaged 378 offensive yards per game, over 60 more than their opponents. The Browns have allowed their opponents to convert 46% of the time, while the Bengals have allowed just over a third.

The weather could have a big impact on this game. A tornado is expected to disrupt the Chicago Bears' game this evening, while the same weather system is stretching as far as Cincinnati. That's likely to force both teams to favour their run game, something which the Browns have struggled with since losing Trent Richardson in a trade early in the season.

If the Bengals can get their passing game working, AJ Green will obviously be the danger man for the home side. The wide receiver leads the league in receiving yards with 1,013 as well as six touchdowns. Despite missing the first two games of the campaign through suspension, Josh Gordon leads the Browns for 626 yards.

One player who'll be hoping for a strong game today is Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton. The third-year player was in impressive form last month, but has struggled in the last two games, throwing six interceptions and being sacked 10 times. In order to make the most of AJ Green's skills, Dalton has to cut out his errors.

PREDICTION! With kickoff just a couple of minutes away, it's time for a prediction. Despite coming into this game off the back of a couple of losses, and the defeat to the Browns earlier in the season, I think the weather conditions will play a big part this evening, and help the Bengals clinch their seventh win of the season. I'm going for a Cincinnati win by 10 points.

The Browns have won the coin toss and decided to defer to the second half, so the Bengals will receive the kickoff.

KICKOFF! The Bengals take a touchback from the kickoff, so the hosts will start their first drive from teh 20-yard line.

AJ Green has his first catch of the night, but he's pushed out of bounds for no gain, but the Bengals are moved back 10 yards as Cook is penalised for tripping. BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Giovani Bernard manage a couple of short rushes but Dalton can't find an open receiver on third down so the Bengals will punt.

It's a relatively uneventful first drive for the Bengals, but they have typically been quiet early in their games this season. The Browns will look to take advantage on their first offensive drive.

SACK! Willis McGahee has a couple of carries to leave the Browns six yards short of a first down. Jason Campbell thinks that he's spotted a gap in the Bengals defense and tries to run it himself, but Kirkpatrick pops up behind him to haul him down for a loss of a yard, which also forces the visitors to punt.

As expected, it looks like both sides are going to favour their running games in windy conditions in Cincinnati, which are forecast to get worse towards the end of the game.

Green-Ellis has two carries for six yards, before Dalton finds Green for the three-yard gain, leaving them just short of the first down, so Huber comes on for his second punt of the day.

Ogbonnaya smashes his way through the defensive line for a gain of seven before Campbell picks him out again with a five-yard pass to gain the first first down of the day. The speedy running back bursts free again on the next play and this time he's got plenty of space, gaining 43 yards before being brought down by Iloka and Nelson and the Cincinnati 25. It's a stunning run by the five-year veteran.

Campbell gets the ball to Josh Gordon for the first time today, and the wide receiver manages to gain five, before Ogbonnaya gains another first down before being pushed out of bounds eight yards short of the first down. The running back is having a huge impact in a promising drive for the visitors.

Two Willis McGahee moves the Browns within a yard of the end zone, before Campbell tries to get the ball to Jordan Cameron at the back of the end zone, but it's two high for the tight end. The Browns have played well to get themselves in this position, and would probably be disappointed to have to settle for a field goal.

Campbell takes a timeout to think about his third-down play, but has his pass for Little knocked down at the line of scrimmage, so Billy Cundiff will come out for short field goal attempt.

From just 20 yards out, it's an easy kick for Cundiff to put the Browns three points up. The visitors may have been hoping for seven points when they were just a yard from the end zone, but the field goal will be a welcome consolation.

INTERCEPTED! On the first play of the drive, Andy Dalton tries a short pass in the direction of AJ Green, but Joe Haden gets in the way and makes the interception, carrying it back to the Cincinnati 16, bringing the Browns offense straight back onto the field for another red zone opportunity.

Little picks up four yards as the Browns look for back-to-back scoring drives, before Campbell throws an incompletion to Ogbonnaya. He tries a deep pass to Josh Gordon on third down, and the wide receiver jump high to try to get a hand to it, but he can't get his feet in bounds, so it will be another field goal attempt.

It's another straight forward kick for Cundiff, chipping the ball over from 28 yards out to double Cleveland's lead.

Andy Dalton makes the exact same mistake that ended the Bengals' last drive, but this time none of his teammates manage to stop Joe Haden, allowing the cornerback to run back his second interception of the game for a pick six. Cundiff's extra point is good.

Dalton makes a shaky start to the drive as his first pass is knocked down. The quarterback manages to get some space and tries a deep pass to Jermaine Gresham, but the tight end can't hold on to the ball. On third down, Giovani Bernard manages a 14-yard gain, but it's not enough to extend the drive, bringing Huber out for another punt.

INTERCEPTION! James Harrison intercepts a pass intended for Josh Gordon and breaks off several tackles to take it back to the end zone, but the touchdown is nullified because of an illegal block by one of his teammates. However, it does give the hosts possession of the ball in a strong position.

The Bengals get their first points of the game as Dalton throws the ball 25 yards to Jermaine Gresham, who holds off a couple of heavy tackles to force his way into the end zone. Mike Nugent adds the extra point.

Willis McGahee picks up two yards before Campbell throws a pass too short towards Ogbonnaya. Schwartz is penalised for a false start on third down, leaving his team needing 13 yards for a first down, but Barnidge comes up a yard short.

BLOCKED PUNT! Shawn Williams gets his fingertips to the punt to give the Bengals a strong field position. The Bengals then catch the Browns out as Dalton passes the ball sideways to Mohamed Sanu, who launches it forward to Bernard, who hauls in the catch nine-yards out.

Cleveland challenged the call, claiming the Barkevious Mingo managed to prevent Bernard from taking the catch in bounds, but the officials can't find the evidence to overturn the on-field decision.

Having set up the red zone opportunity moments earlier, Sanu returns to his receiving duties, taking a six-yard pass from Dalton before Nugent kicks the extra to put the Bengals ahead for the first time today.

SACK! Campbell is brought down for a loss of two by Carlos Dunlap on the opening play of the drive.

Ogbonnaya manages a short gain, but Campbell has no options on third down and has to throw the ball away to avoid his second sack in three plays, bringing Lanning out for a punt.

As the Bengals look to extend their lead, Dalton tries a deep pass to Sanu, but the wide receiver is being well covered and can't get to the ball in time. Dalton misses Sanu again on the next play, completing a swift three and out for the home side.

Campbell continues to favour Ogbonnaya, handing the ball off to the running back on the first play of the drive, before passing to him for a three yard gain. Ogbonnaya continues to frustrate the Bengals defense as he gains nine yards and third down to extend the visitors' drive, but they're still deep inside their own territory.

Cleveland are forced to punt the ball away again, and once again the Bengals manage to get a block in. Tony Dye recovers the ball for Cincinnati and thinks that he has returned it for a touchdown, but the play is being reviewed.

The officials rule that it is a touchdown. The Browns had challenged that Dye had been down by contact while recovering the ball after DiManche blocked Lanning's punt, but the replays show otherwise. It's been a day to forget for the Browns punter so far. After a bit of a delay, Nugent kicks the extra point to put the Bengals eight points up.

The Bengals defense and special teams have been mighty in the second quarter! Campbell passes to Ogbonnaya again, and the running back tries to gain yards after the catch, but a tackle from Vontaze Burfict forces him to fumble before picking it up and running 13 yards to the end zone. Once again, Nugent is accurate with the extra point. What a turnaround it's been by the home side.

TWO MINUTE WARNING! Obgannaya manages a five-yard gain as looks to make amends for his fumble, but a couple of incompletions mean that Cleveland will punt again after the two-minute warning timeout.

After a difficult quarter, Lanning gets a strong punt in, kicking it 52 yards downfield. Cincinnati will start their drive from their own 36-yard line.

Bernard tries to pick up some yardage, but a heavy tackle from Bryant floors the rookie, leaving him on the ground for a few moments while the Bengals' medics check him out, but he manages to make his way to the sideline under his own weight.

On third down, Dalton tries to scramble for the eight yards needed for a first down, but he manages just one, so Cleveland will get the ball back before the end of the second quarter.

INJURY UPDATE! The Bengals have said that Bernard has aggravated a rib injury that he initially sustained a couple of weeks ago, but he is expected to return during the team's next offensive drive.

Campbell attempts a deep pass to Josh Gordon as the Browns look to add a score late in the second quarter, but a well-timed tackle from Reggie Brown prevents the wide receiver from getting his hands to the ball. The quarterback tries for Jordan Cameron on the next play, but he can't find his target.

The Bengals might get another chance as Lanning has to come on to punt again. Adam Jones finds some gaps to return the ball to the Cleveland 30. However, Dalton and the offense will have to wait as Kirkpatrick was injured on the play.

After an incompletion to Gresham, Dalton finds Marvin Jones, who carries it to the 23-yard line. The Bengals needs just a yard on third down but they can't find it, so Nugent will have a field goal attempt.

Nugent's effort from 41 yards comfortable splits the uprights. All 31 Bengals points have come inside the second quarter, which is a new franchise record for most points in a quarter.

Well we've seen a bit of everything so far in this game, and it's only half time! Blocked punts, a pick six, a fumble recovered for a touchdown, it's all happened in the first two quarters at the Paul Brown Stadium! After an error-strewn first quarter, the home side have recovered well to open up a healthy lead by the break.

The Bengals owe their lead to a superb performance by the defense and special teams. So far, Cincinnati have just 108 offensive yards, with Andy Dalton throwing two interceptions. The quarterback also has two touchdown passes though, connecting with Sanu and Gresham.

Chris Ogbonnaya has been the star of the Cleveland Browns offense, rushing for 61 yards and picking up 20 receiving yards. However, Vontaze Burfict managed to force a fumble from the running back which led to a touchdown for the Bengals.

The Browns have struggled to find consistency in their passing game. Campbell finished the half with 13 completions from 24 attempts for 65 yards. However, he was also sacked twice and threw and interception.

The players are back on the field ready to get the second half underway.

KICKOFF! Mike Nugent kicks off the third quarter.

Jason Campbell makes a strong start to the third quarter, completing a short pass to Gordon, who runs after the catch to pick up 24 yards. The wide receiver picks up another couple of yards but had to go off the field ahead of the third down play as his shoe has come off.

Needing just one yard, Campbell hands the ball off to McGahee, who picks up two and moves the Browns to the Cincinnati 39. Ogbonnaya makes another five yards on the run, but Campbell's pass to Bess misses the target. The visitors decide to go for it on fourth down, but he gets pressured by Newman and has to throw it away.

Taking over at the Cincinnati 40, the Bengals pick up six yards through two Green-Ellis rushes. Needing to find four yards for the first down, Dalton fires it deep in the direction of Hawkins, but it's overthrown, so the home side will punt it back to the Browns.

Jason Campbell makes a stunning pass to Josh Gordon, who catches it at the 40-yard line before showing his pace to sprint the remaining distance to the end zone. Cundiff kicks the extra point.

Bernard seems to be showing no remnants of the rib injury that he aggravated in the second quarter as he scrambles to the sideline for a first down. The heavy rain that had been promised has now started to fall, resulting in Andy Dalton losing his grip on the ball as he attempts a long pass to Sanu which misses the target so the Bengals will punt.

The Browns are penalised for offside on the punt so the Cincinnati offense stays on the field. Dalton immediately finds Eifert for a 15-yard gain, taking the Bengals into Cleveland territory.

Dalton tries deep passes to Gresham and Green, but the rain is just upsetting the quarterback's rhythm, so Huber will come back out for another punt, and this time there's no penalty, so Cleveland will get the ball back.

INTERCEPTION! On third down, Campbell overthrows a pass intended for Little, and Reggie Nelson gets an interception for he can't slow down in time to stop himself going out of bounds at the Cleveland 48 to make a return.

It's a quick three and out for the Bengals following short gains from Marvin Jones and Hawkins. The Bengals have converted just once from 12 third down situations today. Huber comes back on for the punt.

SACK! Needing two yards on third down, Campbell pauses to look at his options, giving Gilberry time to pounce on him, downing the quarterback for a loss of 11 yards.

BenJarvus Green-Ellis picks up a six-yard gain in the final seconds of the third quarter, leaving the Bengals at the Cleveland 46.

Green-Ellis has another carry with the first play of the fourth quarter, gaining seven yards to give the Bengals a fresh set of downs. The running back finds a gap to pick up 18 yards before being pushed out of bounds by Gipson, but it moves the home team into the red zone.

Green-Ellis moves the Bengals a further four yards, before Bernard takes over the rushing duties. The rookie has the end zone in his sites, but Hughes and Carder manage to force him out of bounds one yard short.

Having run the ball for most of the drive, Dalton turns to the pass, connecting with tight end Alex Smith with a short pass. Nugent smoothly adds the extra point to restore the Bengals' 18-point lead.

SACK & FUMBLE! Campbell looks for Ogbonnaya on the first two plays of the drive, before connecting with Cameron for a seven-yard gain. The offense stays on the field on fourth down and Campbell tries to take it himself, but he's sacked by Johnson and Gilbery. Johnson also forces a fumble from the quarterback which Cleveland recover, but it's still the Bengals' ball on downs.

Giovani Bernard has a couple of short runs and looks for five yards on third down, but he's held up by Winn. Meanwhile, Boling was injured on the play and has to be helped to the sideline.

The Bengals get another chance on third down because of a penalty, but Bernard still can't get the yardage, so Nugent comes on for a 38-yard field goal, which is no problem for the accurate kicker.

Campbell makes two short passes to Cameron for a first down, but then tries a deep pass to Josh Gordon, who is unable to to get a hand to the ball. Whittaker picks up an 11-yard game on the next play though to move the Browns into Cincinnati territory.

Campbell has really found some rhythm with Whittaker, as he completed eight- and nine-yard passes to the running back for another first down.

Bess moves the Browns to the 35-yard line, but a third-down effort is dropped. The offense stays on the field through on Ogbonnaya thinks he's done enough as he goes out of bounds. The officials will take a measurement.

Ogbonnaya does indeed get the first down before Whittaker comes back into the game, picking up another first down to move the Browns inside the 20-yard line. This is looking promising for the Browns.

Campbell makes a couple of incompletions as tries to force his team into the end zone. Josh Gordon thinks he's caught it for a touchdown on third down, but the officials rule it as incomplete.

The Browns go for it on fourth down, but it's another incompletion from the quarterback, so the Bengals' offense come back onto the field.

TWO MINUTE WARNING! Green-Ellis has two short carries, picking up a combined gain of three yards before the two minute warning timeout.

Green-Ellis continues at running back, but can't get the necessary yardage, so Huber will punt the ball back to the Browns.

FUMBLE! Campbell throws the ball to Little, who gathers it but doesn't realise he's being closely covered, and Michael Johnson forces a fumble and recovers, bringing the Bengals offense back out for the final moments of the game

Andy Dalton takes a series of knees to run down the clock, sealing a big win for the Cincinnati Bengals as they head into their bye week.
