Buffalo Bills CEO Russ Brandon has admitted that the team made a "bold move" in selecting wide receiver Sammy Watkins with their first-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
The Bills moved up five spots to select Watkins fourth overall as the Draft got underway last night, trading with the Cleveland Browns, who received Buffalo's ninth overall pick along with their first and fourth-round selections in 2015.
Brandon acknowledged that they had given up a lot to acquire Watkins, but insisted that they had always planned to make a "bold" move.
"We went into this Draft saying we were going to be bold, and we made a bold move," Brandon told reporters.
The Bills have not made the NFL playoffs since 1999, which is the longest post-season drought in the league.
