Report: Terrell Suggs agrees new Baltimore Ravens deal

The Baltimore Ravens come to an agreement with linebacker Terrell Suggs to extend his contract, according to reports.

The Baltimore Ravens have agreed a deal to extend the contract of linebacker Terrell Suggs, according to reports.

Suggs was entering the final year of his current deal and faced the possibility of being cut by the team in order to free up money.

However, the 31-year-old's new deal will lower his salary cap number from the $7.8m (£4.6m) he was due to make, allowing the team more flexibility.

The extension is thought to be a multi-year deal that could allow Suggs to retire as a Raven having spent his entire career with the team.

The six-time Pro Bowler and former first-round Draft pick is the Ravens' franchise leader in sacks with 94.5 and was named as the Defensive Player of the Year in 2011.

However, he has struggled more in recent seasons, missing a large chunk of the 2012 campaign through injury and recording just 20 tackles and one sack in the second half of 2013.

Suggs and Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome are expected to confirm the deal at a press conference later today.
