The Baltimore Ravens have re-signed linebacker Daryl Smith on a four-year deal, according to reports.

Smith enjoyed a highly productive first season with the Ravens in 2013, finishing the campaign with 123 tackles, five sacks, three interceptions, 19 passes defended and two forced fumbles.

The 32-year-old faced the daunting challenge of filling in for retired legend Ray Lewis, but he managed to break Lewis's franchise record for most pass deflections in a single season, recording 19.

Smith was signed last June following the retirement of Rolando McClain, joining from the Jacksonville Jaguars having only played twice for them in 2012 due to a sports hernia.

He remains the Jaguars' all-time leading tackler having played in Jacksonville for nine seasons between 2004 and 2012.

His new deal with the Ravens, who won the Super Bowl in 2012, is reported to be worth $16.1m (£9.7m) over the four years.
