Atlanta Falcons seal home-field advantage

The Atlanta Falcons will play their playoff games at home after sealing the top place in the NFC.

The Atlanta Falcons ensured that they will finish the regular NFL season as the number one seed in the NFC with a 31-18 victory over the Detroit Lions.

Roddy White scored two early touchdowns to give the Falcons control of the game, with further scores from Julio Jones and Michael Palmer.

Despite being on the losing side, Calvin Johnson was able to break Jerry Rice's single-season receiving record, catching the ball 11 times for 225 yards.

Mikel Leshoure added Detroit's only touchdown of the game in the third quarter, but the Lions rarely looked like staging a comeback.

The seeding means that Atlanta will play all playoff games at home in the Georgia Dome.
