Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith has revealed that his side won't be switching the formation of their defense despite different style signings on their defensive line.
The Falcons have played a 4-3 system under Smith since his arrival in 2008, but due to the additions of Tyson Jackson and Paul Soliai, reports speculated that the team could shift to a 3-4 formation.
"We changed what we are calling the guys, but we are doing what we've done in the past," Smith told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "We are going to be very multiple.
"When you really look at defensive football, it's changed. It's changed a lot over the last 10 years when you start talking about what your base defense is, your base defense is your sub-package."
The Falcons finished with a 4-12 record in the 2013 season.
