Arizona Cardinals sweating on Andre Ellington MRI scan ahead of season opener

The Arizona Cardinals are made to sweat as they await the results of running back Andre Ellington's MRI scan on a supposed injured foot ahead of their season opener.

Arizona Cardinals running back Andre Ellington has undergone an MRI scan on his foot and is waiting for clarification as to his role for Monday night's opener with the San Diego Chargers.

NFL Media insider Ian Rapoport has reported that Ellington underwent the scan on Thursday night, with the team not expecting their key player to require surgery.

However, the running back will have to wait until the last minute to find out if he can play any part in Arizona's first fixture of the NFL season.

The Cardinals have already been hit by season absences before their campaign has even got underway, given that Darnell Dockett is out with a torn ACL and inside linebacker Daryl Washington is suspended for the entire stretch of 2014-15.
