Arizona Cardinals place Jonathan Cooper on injured reserve

Jonathan Cooper will likely miss his rookie season in the NFL as the Arizona Cardinals place him on injured reserve after he broke his leg in pre-season.

The Arizona Cardinals have placed offensive lineman Jonathan Cooper on injured reserve.

The 23-year-old suffered a broken leg in his side's pre-season clash with the San Diego Chargers last week.

Cooper underwent surgery to repair his fractured fibula, which head coach Bruce Arians believed would have ruled him out for 10 to 12 weeks.

However, the team have taken the decision to place him on the reserve list, although there is the possibility of using their designated return option on him.

The Cardinals selected Cooper seventh overall in the 2013 Draft.
