Report: Tyrann Mathieu to have surgery

Arizona Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu reportedly expects to undergo surgery on his fractured and dislocated left thumb.

Arizona Cardinals star Tyrann Mathieu is reportedly set to undergo surgery on his fractured and dislocated left thumb.

The Cardinals safety isn't expected to be placed on injured reserve as the team are hopeful that he will be able to make a return this season.

However, he will be expected to miss at least three weeks if the franchise opt for him to have surgery on the injury, according to ESPN.

Coach Bruce Arians suggested that Mathieu's best-case scenario would have been to play against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, but his hand is expected to be placed in a cast after the surgery.
