Carson Palmer devastated by injury

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer admits that he "cried like a baby" after it was confirmed that he was ruled out for the rest of the season.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer has revealed that he "cried like a baby" after he was ruled out for the rest of the season with a torn ACL in his left knee.

Palmer is expected to undergo surgery in two weeks' time and the injury comes just days after the 34-year-old signed a new three-year contract extension with the franchise.

"It's not easy. Not going to lie, I cried like a baby last night. I'm not an emotional guy. I don't cry. The last time I cried like that was when I lost my friend and [Bengals] teammate Chris Henry in '09," Palmer told reporters.

"It's obviously not ideal and not something anybody wants to go through, especially with all the positive and the good going on."

The Cardinals currently have the best record in the league at 8-1 and they sit atop the NFC West, with back-up signal caller Drew Stanton now set to start in Palmer's absence.
