England's Judd Trump will compete in the UK Championship semi-finals following a 6-3 victory over Stephen Maguire in York.
The 22-year-old overcame world number nine Maguire with two century breaks despite losing the opening frame.
While Maguire came back into the fray by claiming two frames in a row, the youngster secured victory with a break of 120.
"I have still got a lot to improve on and I am giving away far too many chances, but I am potting well," Trump told BBC Sport. "When I am out there now I just feel so confident in front of the cameras, whereas last year I didn't want to be there.
"I just feel at home out there now and I want to be in the latter stages of the tournament when it is down to one table and all eyes are on me."
Trump will face last year's world champion Neil Robertson in the semi-finals.
