Ronnie O'Sullivan has booked his place in the quarter-finals of the World Championships courtesy of a 13-8 win over Ali Carter this evening.
O'Sullivan led Carter 6-3 at one point yesterday, but the latter fought back to level the scores at 7-7 before O'Sullivan won the final two frames of the day.
'The Rocket' then extended his overnight lead before finishing Carter off to win by five frames in a repeat of last year's World Championships final.
The result means that O'Sullivan now has a perfect 13-0 record over Carter in major tournaments.
O'Sullivan, who spent almost a year out of the sport following his victory in last year's event, will take on Stuart Bingham in the quarter-final tomorrow.
